Morocco Sets a Series of Records at The Paris Olympics

The Moroccan Olympic team recorded a series of records today, Thursday, after defeating its Egyptian counterpart in the match to determine the second-place winner in the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The Atlas Lions managed to score 16 goals in all their matches in the tournament, the highest number among the other participating teams, 6 goals ahead of Spain.

They also managed to score in all their matches, and their player Soufiane Rahimi managed to score goals in all the matches he played, to be the tournament's top scorer so far with 8 goals, 4 goals ahead of the Spaniard Fermin Lopez.

Rahimi became the all-time top scorer for Arabs and Africa in the Olympics, equaling the achievement of the Egyptian Ibrahim Riad in the 1964 edition.

Morocco became the first Arab team to win a medal in the Olympics, after being the first Arab and African team to advance to the second round in the 1986 Mexico World Cup.

The Moroccan Olympic team has not lost to any Arab team throughout the history of the Olympics, as it defeated Saudi Arabia, Iraq (twice) and Egypt, and tied twice while keeping a clean sheet in 3 matches.

Throughout its previous participation, the Moroccan Olympic team succeeded in winning only 3 matches out of 24 matches, while in Paris it won 4 matches out of 6, meaning that it achieved in one tournament what it failed to achieve in 7 previous participations.
