Kamala Harris Campaign Slams Trumps Policies as Favoring Self Obsessed Rich Guys Following Musk Interview

Kamala Harri's presidential campaign has sharply
criticized former President Trump's recent interview with billionaire Elon Musk, accusing Trump's campaign of serving the interests of "self-obsessed rich guys who will sell out the middle class."

The interview, which took place on Musk's X Spaces (the live audio feature on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter), attracted millions of listeners despite some initial technical difficulties.

During the discussion, Musk provided Trump ample opportunity to expound on various issues, including immigration, the recent assassination attempt at one of his campaign rallies, inflation, and the proposal to eliminate the Department of Education in favor of state control over school systems.

Notably, Musk also indicated that he would be open to hosting Vice President Harris on X Spaces.

The Harris campaign has seized on the Trump-Musk interview as an example of the former president prioritizing the concerns of wealthy elites over the needs of middle-class Americans.

During the interview, Trump expressed his desire to "close up the Department of Education" and "move education back to the states." He speculated that while around 35 states would "do great" in this scenario, as many as 20 states could struggle, potentially performing at a level comparable to Norway, which he described as "considered great."

Trump acknowledged that deep blue states like California may face challenges if the Department of Education is eliminated.

In response, the Kamala Harris campaign criticized Trump's policy proposals and the technical difficulties that plagued the X Spaces interview. Campaign spokesperson Joseph Costello stated that "Trump's extremism and dangerous Project 2025 agenda is a feature, not a glitch, of his campaign" and that the former president's "entire campaign is in service of people like Elon Musk and himself — self-obsessed rich guys who will sell out the middle class and who cannot run a livestream in the year 2024."

The Project 2025 initiative referenced by Costello is a controversial plan organized by the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation, including input from former Trump administration officials.

The Project 2025 initiative, organized by the conservative Heritage Foundation, offers a series of right-wing policy recommendations for a potential second Trump presidency. These proposals include replacing civil servants with Trump loyalists, abolishing the Department of Education, criminalizing pornography, eliminating diversity and inclusion programs, cutting funding for Medicaid and Medicare, rejecting abortion as healthcare, and infusing the government with Christian values.

Trump has sought to distance himself from this controversial initiative, which has been criticized as promoting an authoritarian and Christian nationalist agenda that could undermine civil liberties. The former president has stated that he knows nothing about the plan and that parts of it are "absolutely ridiculous and abysmal," with the initiative's backers being on the "radical right."

Monday's interview with Elon Musk marked Trump's return to the social media platform, then known as X, after nearly a year of inactivity. Before the interview, Trump had posted a series of campaign ads on the platform. He was previously suspended from the platform, which was then called Twitter, following the January 6th, 2021 Capitol riot. Even after Musk reinstated Trump's account, the former president's only post was sharing his mugshot from August of last year.

Towards the end of the interview, Trump unleashed a scathing critique of his political opponents, declaring that "this country is going down, and these people are bad people that we're running against. And they're liars. They make statements. They do things that are so bad." He accused them of making false promises, particularly on issues like border security and crime, while failing to deliver.

Turning his attention to Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump described her as "considered more liberal, by far, than Bernie Sanders" and a "radical-left lunatic." He warned that if she becomes president, "very quickly you're not going to have a country anymore," and claimed that she supports defunding the police and banning fracking.

Trump also addressed President Biden's recent decision to suspend his re-election campaign, calling it a Democratic "coup" that pressured the president to step aside. Trump suggested that Biden was effectively forced out, saying, "They just took him out back behind the shed and basically shot him." He went on to brand Biden as "the worst president in history."

Musk's response to Trump's assertions about the Biden campaign decision was succinct, "They just took him out back behind the shed and basically shot him."
